Fault finding is where experience counts. With 20 years in the trade, much of it on industrial and commercial sites, we work through a fault methodically with proper test equipment, rather than swapping parts until something happens to work.
Most repairs are for homes and rentals in West End and the inner south, but Earthwire covers all of Greater Brisbane, including shops, offices and workshops.

Why does my safety switch keep tripping?
A safety switch trips when it detects electricity leaking somewhere it shouldn't. Common causes are a faulty appliance, moisture in an outdoor powerpoint or light, or damaged wiring. Try unplugging everything on that circuit and resetting it. If it still trips, or trips again when you plug one item back in, call an electrician.
Is a burning smell from a powerpoint an emergency?
Treat it as one. Stop using the outlet, switch off that circuit at the switchboard if it is safe to do so, and call. Burning smells and scorch marks usually mean a loose or overheating connection.
How are repairs priced?
Simple repairs can often be quoted up front. Fault finding is normally charged hourly, because the cause isn't known until it's tested. Either way, the pricing is agreed before work starts.
Can you come after hours?
Business hours are Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm. After-hours help may be possible depending on availability, so call and we'll let you know.
