Switchboard upgrades in Brisbane
Older fuse boards weren't built for air conditioners, induction cooktops and EV chargers. An upgraded switchboard adds safety switch protection and the capacity your home or business needs now.

Your switchboard is the heart of the electrical system. Many Brisbane homes still run on boards with ceramic fuses and little or no safety switch protection, and adding modern appliances to them can mean nuisance tripping or overloaded circuits.
We design and build each board to suit the property, with every circuit clearly labelled.
What's included
- Old ceramic fuse to circuit breaker upgrades
- Safety switch (RCD) protection on circuits
- Capacity for air conditioning, induction cooking, solar and EV charging
- Clear, labelled circuits
- Surge protection where suitable
- Commercial and multi-tenancy boards
- Custom built switchboards
- Temporary builders' power, consumer mains and three phase upgrades

Temporary power, mains and supply upgrades
Switchboard work often goes hand in hand with changes to the supply itself. We handle the electrical work and the Energex paperwork, so builders and owners deal with one contractor from application to switch-on.
Temporary builders' power poles
Temporary power for new builds, knockdown rebuilds and major renovations. We arrange the pole through one of Brisbane's specialist pole companies, who assess the site, sort out any traffic management and install it. We manage the whole process, fit the electrical equipment to the pole before it goes up to save time, and lodge the Energex paperwork for you.
House raising and restumping
Supply disconnected safely before the lift, temporary power to keep the job running, then reconnection with the consumer mains, meter board and point of attachment relocated to suit the new height.
Property poles and point of attachment
Replacement of rotted or leaning private property poles, new poles for overhead supply, and relocating the point of attachment when an extension or renovation gets in the way.
Consumer mains upgrades
Replacing old or undersized consumer mains between the street connection and your switchboard, often needed when adding air conditioning, EV charging, induction cooking or a larger build.
Single to three phase upgrades
For workshops, larger homes, fast EV chargers and commercial equipment. We assess the load, lodge the Energex application, upgrade the mains and switchboard to three phase, and balance circuits across the phases.
Network connection times are set by Energex, so we lodge applications early and keep you updated on timing.

Read more reviewsDave is a very knowledgeable and thorough sparky. I got a lot of work done around the house like rewiring, downlights, power sockets, fan and even switchboard upgrade at a very reasonable price. Some of the work was quite challenging however he managed it very well and always kept me in the loop.

Do I need Energex approval to upgrade to three phase?
Yes. Changing the number of phases or increasing the supply needs a connection application to Energex, lodged by your electrical contractor. Once the work is done and tested, we lodge an Electrical Work Request so Energex and your retailer can complete the connection and meter change. We handle both for you.
How do I know if I need a switchboard upgrade?
Common signs include ceramic fuses, no safety switches, frequent tripping, scorch marks or a burning smell, no room for new circuits, or plans to add air con, an induction cooktop, solar or an EV charger.
How long does a switchboard upgrade take?
A typical home upgrade is usually done in a day, with the power off for part of it. We confirm the timing in the quote so you can plan around it.
Why are safety switches important?
Safety switches (RCDs) cut the power in a fraction of a second if they detect current leaking to earth, for example through a person. They are one of the most effective electrical safety upgrades for an older home.
Do you upgrade commercial switchboards?
Yes, including shops, offices, workshops and multi-tenancy sites.
